Oklahoma rig count down by three this week
The number of drilling rigs actively exploring for oil or natural gas in Oklahoma decreased by three this week to 186, Baker Hughes Inc. reported Friday.
The tally is down seven from a year ago, when it stood at 193.
Nationwide, the number of active drilling units decreased by 13 this week to 1,826.
Texas-based oilfield services company Baker Hughes Inc. reported Friday that 1,408 rigs were exploring for oil and 416 were searching for gas. Two were listed as miscellaneous. A year ago, Baker Hughes listed 2,021 rigs.
Benchmark oil rose 23 cents to end at $86.28 per barrel in New York, and natural gas fell 3.4 cents to end at $3.40 per 1,000 cubic feet.
