Rape, kidnapping charges filed in Tulsa assault

Charges were filed Tuesday against a Tulsa man who is accused of raping a woman in August.
Christopher Alan Cardwell, 26, is charged in Tulsa County District Court with two counts of first-degree rape and one count of kidnapping.
The rape is alleged to have occurred in the 4400 block of South 72nd East Avenue on Aug. 25.
Prosecutors allege that Cardwell held the woman against her will and choked and beat her while sexually assaulting her, court documents say.
Cardwell has been convicted of sex crimes in Texas. A complaint of failure to register as a sex offender was also filed against him at the Tulsa Jail, where he remains with bail set at $260,000, records indicate.
