A man accused of inappropriate contact with two young girls was arrested Monday night by Tulsa police.

Tulsa County prosecutors filed two lewd molestation charges Thursday against Stephen Charles Nichols, 26, court records show.

Court filings allege Nichols touched two girls, who were between the ages of 5 and 7, in a lewd and lascivious manner between April and September.

Nichols is a neighbor of the girls’ grandmother, at whose home the girls stay after school, Tulsa Police Cpl. Greg Smith said.

Nichols frequently sat in his garage in the 4600 block of 86th East Avenue and watched television with the door open while interacting with the neighborhood children, Smith said.

The girls were invited to sit on Nichols’ lap, which led to contact “beyond what would be considered appropriate” on at least one occasion, Smith said.

Nichols was arrested around 10:30 p.m. Monday. He is being held at the Tulsa Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
