A Vinita woman was killed and was another injured in a head-on collision with a truck Wednesday afternoon, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
Marilyn Turnbough, 43, was driving west on U.S. 60 near Craig County Road 4460, about four miles east of Vinita, when her 2003 Chevrolet Malibu crossed the center line and struck an eastbound tractor-trailer rig about 12:20 p.m., the OHP reported.
The truck then caught fire, troopers said.
Turnbough, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pinned in the wreckage for about 45 minutes before being extricated by Vinita firefighters, the OHP reported. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her passenger, Betsy Gibson, 41, was pinned for about 15 minutes. She was treated for external injures at Craig General Hospital in Vinita and released, troopers reported.
The truck driver, Jared Kleiboeker, 29, of Wentworth, Mo., refused treatment at the scene, the OHP said.
Gibson and Kleiboeker were wearing seat belts, troopers said.
