The University of Oklahoma was picked 14th in the preseason USA Today/ESPN Top 25 women's basketball poll released Tuesday.

Oklahoma State checked in at No. 24 in the coaches rankings.

The Sooners are No. 12 in the preseason Associated Press poll, released Saturday. OSU is 23rd.

OU returns seven players, including its starting five, from a squad that finished second in the Big 12 Conference and with its 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

All-Big 12 First Team members Aaryn Ellenberg and Whitney Hand and the Big 12's Sixth Man Sharane Campbell are returning.

The defending WNIT champion Cowgirls are coming off a 22-12 record and will begin the season Nov. 7 with an exhibition game against Central Oklahoma in Stillwater.

The Cowgirls were last ranked heading into the season prior to the 2008-09 campaign when they were ranked 14th by the AP and No. 15 by the coaches.

Oklahoma hosts Oklahoma Christian in the first of two exhibition games at the Lloyd Noble Center at 7 p.m. Thursday.
