OU Talking Points

Bouncing back
Oklahoma has won 19 consecutive games following a regular-season loss. The last time the Sooners lost back-to-back games was at the end of 2003. OU is trying to shrug off a loss for the second time this season following last week's 30-13 setback to Notre Dame. The Sooners showed maturity in preparing for a hot Texas Tech team following the Kansas State loss last month and will have to depend on their veteran leadership to help once again. These games take on extra importance as there is still an outside chance of a Big 12 Conference championship possible.
Take a lesson from Irish
A charged-up stadium greeted Notre Dame last weekend. In fact, it was the largest crowd ever to watch a sporting event in Oklahoma state history. But what did the Irish do to calm down the masses? It wasn't fazed and never allowed OU to gather momentum. There was little in the first half for the fans to cheer about. The Iowa State crowd won't be as juiced as OU's crowd last week, but it does know how to intimidate. Oklahoma can take the crowd out by capturing an early lead, just like it did against Texas Tech.
Still plenty to play for
While dominoes need to fall, the Sooners are still in the Big 12 Conference race. Oklahoma needs Kansas State to drop two games (note: the Wildcats will be favored in the final four contests) while winning out. Right now, it seems like the odds are against OU, but college football fans have seen crazy things happen in November. This will be a large test for the coaching staff and the maturity of the football team. Oklahoma will have to take no one for granted but also can't get caught up watching the scoreboard of other games. Pardon the coach-speak, but every week will hold its own challenge.
By The Numbers

36 Total points scored by Iowa State in seven previous games against Bob Stoops-coached teams.
