BROKEN ARROW - Broken Arrow used a stingy defense and some big plays to defeat Westmoore 26-13 on Friday at Memorial Stadium to finish second in District 6A-2.

Senior Cameron Wrenn made history, setting the career rushing yardage record for Broken Arrow (7-3, 6-1). Wrenn carried four times for 41 yards.

Westmoore was primed to seize the lead right before halftime with the ball at Broken Arrow's 2, trailing 6-0. With seven seconds left in the half, Westmoore's pass attempt was snagged by Broken Arrow's Ryan Alger, who raced 99 yards for a touchdown as time expired in the first half.

"We thought they were going to throw so the coaches called man coverage and we were going to bring a little pressure," said Alger. "They threw a 2-yard out, and I jumped it. I didn't know if I was going to make it all the way, but Gyasi (Akem) threw a great block on about the 10-yard line that gave me the lane I needed to score."

Broken Arrow will host Sand Springs next week in a first-round playoff game.

Alger also had several tackles behind the line of scrimmage from his safety position.

"For him to do that on senior night shows what our team is all about," said Broken Arrow coach Steve Spavital. "He was everywhere for us tonight and helped our whole defense play a good game."

Westmoore rallied in the second half as quarterback Jhames West scored on a 14-yard run to narrow the gap to 12-7.

Broken Arrow's offense, which had stalled on earlier red-zone opportunities, found its way into the end zone through the air. Quarterback Coleman Key threw a 24-yard touchdown strike to junior receiver Austin Reed. Key found Reed again on Broken Arrow's next possession on a similar play from 17 yards out.

"Westmoore stacked the box against us and we took advantage of their aggressiveness on a couple play-action passes," said Spavital.

Devon Thomas had 98 yards on 24 carries for Broken Arrow.

Broken Arrow special teams also came up big to keep the Tigers with good field position most of the night. Cre Moore recovered a fumble on a kickoff, and Jalen Woodard blocked a punt that set up Broken Arrow's final touchdown.
