I am hopeful voters in Tulsa
County will see Vision2’s potential
to make Tulsa a major
attraction for new business
and economic growth including
the health-care field. As
foundation president of St.
John Health System, I am encouraged
to see quality of life
and economic development
on the forefront of the Vision2
plan. I have seen firsthand
how many of the proposed
projects and efforts in
Vision2 have direct impacts
on our region’s overall ability
to grow industries and attract
new jobs.
Employment within any
region has major correlation
to the health-care industry’s
ability to provide services.
When a large number of jobs
leave a community, the medical
industry feels the loss as
well. When a county rallies
behind jobs and economic development,
all industries and
citizens within that county
benefit as a result.
In addition, Vision2’s commitment
to higher education
is something that should be
praised and supported. Contributions
to nurse and physician
training at OSU-Tulsa,
the OU-TU Medical School
partnership, and Langston
University all have the potential
to attract hundreds
of motivated students to our
region to pursue a career in
the medical field. Our institutions
will also recruit many
of these students to start careers
and grow families here
in Tulsa County.
Vision2 helps equip our region
for decades of success
and economic growth without
an increase to our tax
rate. I encourage Tulsa County
voters to vote yes Tuesday.
