District 1 City Councilor Jack Henderson cruised to an easy victory Tuesday night and gained a new colleague with the election of Arianna Moore, whom voters chose to succeed District 7 City Councilor Tom Mansur.
Mansur had left his name on the ballot even though he had accepted a new job in Ardmore and said he would not serve if elected.
Moore, 25, becomes the youngest city councilor in Tulsa history.
"I am really excited because I get a chance to represent my city," she said.
With 21 of 22 precincts reporting, Moore had 57 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results from the Tulsa County Election Board.
Moore said she was thankful to voters for the "blind trust" they had put in her.
"I am very grateful to all of the voters and appreciate all of their support," she said. "I hope I can give back as much support as they gave to me."
Moore grew up in Bixby and attended the University of Tulsa, from which she graduated in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in communications and a minor in business. She works as a marketing assistant at MetLife Insurance.
Henderson, 62, was first elected in 2004. On Tuesday, he defeated Twan Jones.
With 16 of 19 precincts reporting, Henderson had received 75 percent of the vote.
"The people are accepting me back, and I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and go to work for them at City Hall," he said.
Henderson and Moore will serve two-year terms. They will be sworn in Dec. 3.
