What a bunch of trash. Back in the day, before Oct. 1, a trash truck would come to my curbside twice a week and the two guys riding on the back of the truck would throw one or two bags of trash (33-gallon) in the truck - no carts necessary. The trash bags cost me approximately 25 cents per bag and I'm still required to provide them. The old collection rate was $13.44. It is now $17.74 (for twice/week 32-gal. curbside). The collection rate represents a 31.99 percent increase.
Now, here is what I get for this new and improved trash collection service: a new trash cart (32-gal.), which I take out of my garage to the curb and put the trash bag into the cart. Now guess what happens? The trash truck comes to my curbside with the same two guys riding on the back of truck, stops at the curb and the guy, by hand, opens up the new trash cart, pulls the trash bag out of the trash cart and throws the bag into the truck. Then, I get to take the trash cart back to the garage.
A new, innovative, mechanized, emptying trash collection service hard at work.
