The last time the Cowgirls
played in Gallagher-Iba, they
cut down the nets to celebrate
a WNIT championship. This
time, they will experience their
only tuneup before officially
opening the season at 5:30
p.m. Friday against Cal Poly,
part of a doubleheader with the
men’s team, which hosts UCDavis
after the women’s game.
Coming off a 22-12 record,
OSU returns second-team
All-Big 12 point guard Tiffany
Bias, who averaged 6.7 assists
per game last season, and Big
12 freshman of the year Liz
Donohoe, who led the team in
scoring in 12 games.
The Division II Bronchos
went 1-1 in their previous
exhibitions, including a 69-33
defeat Sunday at Wichita State
in which they shot 28.6 percent
from the field. UCO has
reached 20 wins in four of the
past five seasons.
All but one of UCO’s players
are from Oklahoma. The team
includes former area standouts
Jill and Hayley Bryan of Copan,
Savannah Hamilton of Preston,
Audra Harris of Beggs and
Chelsi Dennis of Broken Arrow.
