BROKEN ARROW — A woman was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident on Kenosha Street (71st Street) on Wednesday night.

The woman was walking north across Kenosha just west of Lynn Lane Road (177th East Avenue) when she was struck by a white GMC Ventura van at 7:30 p.m., police said.

“The pedestrian entered the roadway and walked into the path of (the) eastbound vehicle,” said Sgt. Ed Ferguson in a news release.

Emergency medical responders transported the woman to St. Francis Hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival, according to the release. The van’s driver was not injured.

The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of her family.

There was no immediate indication of improper action by the driver, Ferguson said.

The wreck was the second fatal auto-pedestrian accident in Broken Arrow within the last week.
