COWETA — A Coweta man was jailed Thursday after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and holding her captive for a week and a half, Wagoner County deputies said.

Joshua Pool, 24, is accused of physically and sexually assaulting his girlfriend while he held her and her 18-month-old son captive at a residence near Coweta, Capt. Dustin Dorr said.

The woman told deputies that Pool bound her, threatened to kill her and attempted to suffocate her with a pillow. She also said Pool had thrown her son 10 feet across a room in the house, where he landed on a bed. The boy was uninjured.

She convinced Pool to allow her and her son to go outside of the residence on Thursday morning, and she seized the opportunity to seek help, Dorr said. The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office responded after she called them from a neighbor’s house.

Pool fled to his mother’s home in Coweta, where deputies forced their way into the house and deployed a K-9 unit, Dorr said.

Pool is being held at the Wagoner County Jail on sexual assault, domestic assault and battery by strangulation, domestic assault and battery in the presence of a minor and child abuse complaints. His bond amount had not been set Friday morning.
