Theodore (Ted) P. Gibson passed away on November 7, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born July 4, 1931 in Muskogee, OK, to John T. and Grace Payne Gibson. Ted is survived by his wife, Carlie Gibson, and five children, John Thomas, Caroline Kline, Theodore Payne, Katherine Grace, and Edmund Keffer and 7 grandchildren, and numerous loving family and friends. Ted was a long-time Tulsa attorney who was active in the Tulsa County Bar Association and Oklahoma Bar Association. He became a Senior Member of the Oklahoma Bar Association on February 28, 2002 and received his 50-year certificate and lapel pin in October 2010. He served as delegate and/or alternate of the Tulsa County Bar Association at the Oklahoma Bar Association Annual Meetings from 2004-09, the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Commission 2009-2012 and the Bankruptcy and Reorganization Section of the OBA in 2003 as the Director arranging the education program at the annual meeting in 2003. He served tirelessly at the Tulsa County Bar Association on the Attorney Complaint and Fee Arbitration Committee. He was a second generation Tulsa lawyer. He received his undergraduate degree from Brown University and his law degree from the University of Tulsa Law School in 1960. He practiced law with his father for one year before his father’s passing. Over the years, Ted has practiced at Ungerman, Grabel, Ungerman; Houston and Klein; Tips and Gibson; and most recently, at the Jarboe Law Firm as “Of Counsel”. Ted’s colleagues have all shared his ability to vigorously defend clients while treating other attorneys with respect, courtesy and dignity. He was an attorney’s attorney and was devoted to practicing law as a true gentleman and professional. He possessed excellent character and integrity that brought credit to the legal profession. Ted served as a role model and mentor to multiple generations of lawyers that followed in his footsteps, always stressing integrity and honesty. His willingness to serve, guide and advise his clients and fellow attorneys will be greatly missed and never duplicated. He was able to continue to practice law to the present time. Ted enjoyed tennis and developed many good friends on the tennis court. The game kept him slim and trim throughout his life and provided a source of camaraderie. He will be greatly missed by not only his family and friends, but the legal profession and courts. Services will be held at St Dunstans Church, 5635 East 71st St. at 11 am on Saturday, November 10th.
