Letter to the Editor: Shocking news

What headlines. At the top: "SHATTERED," followed by accounts of the devastation by a monster storm. At the bottom: "Attorneys for dead inmate seek video of his last hours," followed by a story of the alleged degrading of a human being by other human beings. The victim had demonstrated signs of mental illness. The other human beings who were not mental health professionals reportedly decided he was not and was faking and began treating him as a non-human.
I am aware that the people doing the job of those human beings in power in this situation often receive less than human treatment themselves. But does that, in any way, excuse the actions described in this article? They were not only inhumane, they were inhuman. The events in the last story happened here, in Tulsa.
