A neighborhood evacuation due to a natural gas leak has been lifted in south Tulsa.

Emergency crews began asking residents living in the area northwest of 91st Street and Memorial Drive to leave their homes due to safety concerns after the leak was reported around 5 a.m., Fire Capt. Stan May said.

Oklahoma Natural Gas contained the leak and the evacuation was lifted by 7 a.m.

May said the leak was possibly due to a relief valve that was damaged by construction equipment in the area.
