PRYOR — A dog that worked for the Mayes County Sheriff’s Office was found dead Monday.

“Max,” a black Labrador retriever, was reported missing from his kennel in Strang about 3 p.m. Sunday, Undersheriff Albert McKee said.

“We don’t know if he got out of his kennel or someone took him out,” he said.

Sheriff Frank Cantey wrote on his Facebook page Monday night that the dog had been found dead.

More information was not immediately available.

Anyone with information about what happened to the dog is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 918-825-3535.
