A 22-year-old man died Monday in a crash troopers said was the result of driving under the influence.

Kenneth A. Gomez of Cushing was pronounced dead at the scene on Norfolk Road near Cushing just before 11 p.m., according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol release.

Gomez was driving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup near Ninth Street when the pickup veered to the left, leaving the roadway, and went into a broadslide, troopers said. The pickup struck a fence, a gate and two utility poles and became airborne at one point before landing on its roof.

Passengers Hayden A. Boyles, 21, and Chance D. Gray, 18, were treated and released from Cushing Regional Hospital.

None of the vehicle’s occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Troopers list the cause of the crash as DUI and the driver’s condition as intoxicated.
