CLAREMORE – Police arrested four people accused of manufacturing methamphetamine inside a stolen vehicle after a standoff at a Claremore motel Sunday.

Officers responded to investigate reports of an occupied stolen vehicle in the parking lot of Walmart, 1500 S. Lynn Riggs Blvd., at 1 p.m., according to a news release. Two men and two women reportedly fled the scene.

Chief Stan Brown identified the vehicle’s occupants as Danny Glenn Pirtle, 39; Jayson Braden Scott Handing, 27; Sarah Elyn Hawley, 20; and Jennie Runions, 30.

Hawley and Runions were located near the Elms Motel, 820 S. Lynn Riggs Blvd, where Pirtle and Handing were waiting inside a motel room, Brown said.

The men allegedly climbed into the motel’s attic in an attempt to elude police, the report states.

Claremore police requested assistance from the Tulsa Police Department’s Special Operations Team around 9 p.m., said Tulsa Police Officer Leland Ashley.

The men were apprehended as officers prepared to force entry, Ashley said.

All four were arrested on complaints of manufacturing and possessing a controlled drug.

Pirtle, Handing and Hawley are also being held on single possession of a stolen vehicle complaints.

Pirtle and Handing, both convicted felons, were found to be in the possession of a firearm.
