For having recorded two sacks and recovering a fumble, along with scoring on a 22-yard interception return during the University of Tulsa's 41-7 victory at Houston, Golden Hurricane defensive end Cory Dorris was named the Conference USA defensive player of the week.

The interception and touchdown were career-firsts for Dorris, a senior from Jenks. Against UCF on Saturday - in an 11 a.m. showdown at H.A. Chapman Stadium - he will make the 48th start of his career.

SMU time set: Tulsa closes the regular season with a Nov. 24 game at SMU's Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas. It was announced on Monday that the TU-SMU contest will begin at 11 a.m. and be televised by FX (Cox cable 35, DirecTV channel 248 and Dish Network channel 136).

Defending the pass: During a 31-24 victory at UTEP last week, the UCF defense limited the Miners to five pass completions for 79 yards. A week earlier, the Knights faced SMU (267 passing yards per game) and gave up 133 yards. Against UCF this season, six teams failed to pass for more than 165 yards.

Toys for Tots: For the UCF game, tickets start at $15 ( tulsaworld.com/tusports), but any fan who brings a new, unwrapped toy valued at $15 or more will receive free admission.

Also, any member of the military may purchase up to four tickets at $5 apiece.

Green update: In each of his first six starts as the Tulsa quarterback, Cody Green threw at least one touchdown pass. That was before he sustained a right-shoulder injury during the Oct. 6 victory at Marshall. In each of his last three starts - against UTEP, Arkansas and Houston - there have been no TD passes.

Green has not completed a pass for a touchdown since the fourth quarter of the Marshall contest. On a 4-yard throw, he connected with Jordan James for the game-winning touchdown.
