DALLAS - Charles E. Orsak, the father of former University of Tulsa President Geoffrey Orsak, died Nov. 3 in Dallas. He was 75.

Services were held in Texas.

Charles Orsak was born in Blessing, Texas, and was the first member of his family to attend college. He had a long career with Central Power and Light, retiring as director of electrical design. At his retirement, his contributions to Texas electrical power were recognized by a proclamation from the Texas Senate.

When Geoffrey Orsak left TU in September, it was announced that he was returning to Texas via a leave of absence to attended to his ailing father. Subsequently, the school's trustees fired him without discussing the circumstances publicly.

Orsak had been president of TU for fewer than 75 days.

Charles Orsak is also survived by a daughter, Leah Orsak Erard of Austin; another son, Stephen Orsak; a sister, Linda Orsak Fitch; and six grandchildren.

Friends are contributing to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, National Council of the United States, 58 Progress Pkwy., Maryland Heights, MO 63043-3706.
