Tulsa's BOK Center has been nominated for an Arena of the Year award by Pollstar Magazine, a weekly concert industry publication.
This is the fourth year the venue has been nominated. This year, it goes head-to-head with Bridgestone Arena (Nashville), Consol Energy Center (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Madison Square Garden (New York City), Staples Center (Los Angeles) and Wells Fargo Center (Philadelphia).
"This nomination recognizes not only the hard work of our staff at the BOK Center, but also the promoters who continue to bring great shows to Tulsa," SMG General Manager John Bolton said in a media statement.
Pollstar readers and members vote on the awards, to be announced Feb. 7 at the 24th Annual Pollstar Awards in Los Angeles.
The BOK Center was nominated for Best New Major Concert Venue in 2009. Also, it was nominated for Arena of the Year in 2010 and 2011. Last year, Bolton won Facility Executive of the Year.
In related news, the Tulsa Convention Center recently won the 2012 ConventionSouth magazine's Reader's Choice Award winner. The BOK Center and Tulsa Convention Center are managed by SMG.
It is the second year for the venue to take the prize, awarded to meeting sites that provide exemplary service for group events.
"Our team takes a lot of pride in providing exceptional service to all our guests. To have those efforts recognized by our peers is a great achievement," Janet Rockefeller, SMG assistant general manager, said in a press statement.
