A Tulsa woman who was arrested on robbery and conspiracy complaints in connection with a botched robbery turned shooting inside a Sapulpa motel allegedly told police she orchestrated the event.

Brittany Sue Carter, 18, currently in the Tulsa Jail on attempted robbery with a weapon and conspiracy to commit a felony complaints, informed investigators while in custody, "I set this up, I planned this," according to a police report.

Carter also allegedly admitted to police that she agreed to have sex in exchange for money with 28-year-old Jose Cruz last Friday at the Economy Inn at 5609 W. Skelly Drive because "she needed to pay her rent," the report said.

Carter said she asked Justin Marshall and LeeDell Kavon Jones to help her rob Cruz at the motel that night, according to the report.

Police reported that the trio and 21-year-old Eric Courtaway drove to the motel, rented a room and planned how they would rob Cruz.

The report noted "they all agreed on a code word so they would know when to come out and rob Cruz."

Cruz, who is licensed to carry a handgun, shot Marshall in the leg and Jones in the abdomen, leg and foot went they attempted to ambush him, police said.

The two shooting victims were taken to the Oklahoma State University Medical Center in Tulsa by Carter and Courtaway, where they underwent surgery, police said.

Marshall and Jones later gave investigators conflicting accounts of how they were shot, police said. They remain hospitalized and have not been arrested.

Police have named Courtaway a person of interest in the robbery.

Cruz is not expected to be charged, police said.
