Michael Douglas Connor, born June 24, 1949, to Gerald and Dorothea Connor. Died November 10, 2012, of cancer that took his life but never diminished his spirit. After graduating from Central High School in 1967, Mike joined the Army intent on learning to fly helicopters. Instead, he was classified as color blind and assigned to drive trucks in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Army Commendation and Bronze Star Medals. After discharge, he continued driving trucks to put himself through flight training and later became chief corporate pilot for the Frasier & Frasier law firm. When he decided to spend more time on the ground at home in Tulsa, he trained himself in computer technology and eventually became IT administrator for Fabricut, Inc. Later, he returned to ‘flying’ by forming an R/C air- plane manufacturing company and designing the Screaming Demon, which set the speed record for its class of delta wing model aircraft. He enjoyed challenging himself, he loved dancing, and if life tried to throw him a curveball, he’d turn it into an opportunity. Survived by his sister Barbara, brother Tom (and his wife Linda), niece Ann Thurman (her husband Guy and sons Colin and Eli), his special friend Andrea Buening, his Dreifke and Gootee cousins, aunts, and uncle, and the many friends who enriched his life and eased his death. Services at Stanleys Funeral Home Chapel, 3959 E. 31st St,Tulsa, November 19th, 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org ).
