Naomi Allman, age 97, Joplin, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at a local nursing center after an illness. Naomi was born November 16, 1914 in the Medoc Community to the late Neil Means and Edna Smith Means and had lived in the Joplin area most of her life. She worked as a beauty operator at the former Fox Beauty Box for many years. Naomi was an active volunteer with St. John’s Auxiliary and Crosslines. She was an avid bowler and was a long time member of the Joplin Elk’s Lodge #501. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. Naomi is survived by her sister, Dimple Means Graham, Tulsa; and many cousins; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Belle ‘Shorty’ Bailey. Memorial services are planned for Sunday at 10:45 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, in care of Parker Mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. This obituary was published in the Tulsa World on 11/14/2012.
