Cross Country: TU's O'Hare, Gulley nab regional awards

Tulsa junior Chris O'Hare was named Midwest Region Athlete of the Year and TU coach Steve Gulley was named Midwest Region Coach of the Year, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced.
In addition, the Golden Hurricane men, which moved up to No. 12 in the USTFCCCA Coaches Poll this week, placed six runners on the All-Midwest Region Team.
All six runners - O'Hare, seniors Andrew Heyes and Paulo Pinheiro, sophomores Dennis Hodapp and Danny Thater and freshman Marc Scott - placed among the top 25 at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet.
The TU men run at the NCAA Championships Saturday in Louisville, Ky. The men's race begins at 12:15 p.m.
