Born on May 5, 1917, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Arthur Paul Buthod, age 95, died November 14, 2012, at Corinth Atrium Medical Center, after a lengthy battle with lung disease. In Tulsa, he attended school at Sacred Heart (now Christ the King), Holy Family, St. Francis Xavier, Marquette, and the University of Tulsa (TU). After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering in 1939, he was a professor of Petroleum Refining and Chemical Engineering at TU for 45 years and was department chairman from 1954 to 1968. Loved by his students, he won numerous awards during his distinguished career and was world renowned for his refining and heat transfer expertise. As a devout Catholic, he and his wife were dedicated to the promotion of the traditional Latin Mass. As supporters of the Society of St. Pius X, Paul was a founding member and coordinator of St. John Fisher Church in Tulsa for almost 25 years. After his move in 1999 to Sanger, Texas, he was treasurer and later assistant treasurer at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Sanger, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Mary Rudelle (Dougherty), his son, Patrick Joseph, and his grandson, Richard Montgomery. He is survived by six daughters, Mary Temple, Post Falls, Idaho, Sister Mary Clare, O.S.B., Tulsa, Ruth Sestak, Plano, Texas, Alice Montgomery, Platte City, Missouri, Lynn Reed, Tulsa, Paula Sparks, Maple Hill, Kansas; one son, Bill Buthod, Tulsa; two sisters, Mary Rose Grummer, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Helen Hayes, Tulsa; one brother, Jack Buthod, Tulsa; 31 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. A Rosary will be said at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 3rd and Peach, Sanger, Texas, at 2 PM, November 17, followed by a sung Requiem Mass at 3 PM, offered by Fr. Richard Boyle. Burial will take place at noon, November 19, at Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa.
