Afghanistan: As of Friday at least 2,025 members of the U.S. military had died as a result of the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, according to an Associated Press count.
The latest death reported by the military:
- Army Staff Sgt. Rayvon Battle Jr., 25, of Rocky Mount, N.C., died Tuesday in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 38th Engineer Company, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.
