Letter to the Editor: Exaggerating the divide

The Nov. 15 cartoon by Bruce Plante prompted me to respond to what I see as an overpowering movement that is literally disabling our country. While our political situation will be in gridlock for the next four years, the "media" not only fuels this stalemate, it exaggerates the divide to the extent I can hardly watch the news or read a newspaper.
I fear for my children's country. Today's politicians are considered weak if they merely hint at compromise, chastised by their party's leadership. MSNBC, Fox, CNN and the Washington Post, to name a few that perpetrate the hate that divides us.
Nothing new, you may say, but the instant access of information today is unprecedented in our history.
This development is unchecked, mean-spirited and crushes any optimism of healing the divide.
