Luper scores 32 as Eagles crush UTA

Kevi Luper scored 32 points as Oral Roberts defeated UT-Arlington, 73-41, Friday afternoon in Arlington, Texas.

Luper's output came in just 29 minutes of action. The Adair graduate shot 13-for-19 from the floor and added seven rebounds, six steals and three blocked shots.

Senior Savanna Buck added 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Bernadett Balla scored 10 points and Jaci Bigham had nine assists for ORU.

The Golden Eagles (2-0) shot 51.9 (27-for-52) from the field and held the Mavericks to 25.4 percent shooting (15-for-59).

The Mavericks (0-3) were led by Kelsey Wilson, who scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds off the bench.

ORU raced out to a 17-7 lead on a jumper from Luper at the 12:35 mark, but Wilson led a UTA rally as the Mavericks tightened the gap late in the first half, closing within one point at 26-25 at the 4:58 mark.

ORU closed the half on a 9-3 run and went to the locker room with a seven-point lead.

ORU hosts Arkansas at 7 p.m. Monday at the Mabee Center.
