ER wing locked down after robbery attempt

The OSU Medical Center's emergency room wing was locked down for several hours early Saturday after a man pistol-whipped an employee during an attempted robbery, Tulsa police said.

Cpl. Phil Snow said the man demanded drugs at gunpoint from the employee on the third floor of the facility at 744 W. Ninth St. and then struck the employee and fled when he was refused. No one else was injured.

Police helped the hospital's security officers search the emergency room wing for several hours but concluded that the man left the building immediately after the attack, Snow said.

The hospital's staff was confident he did not enter the portion of the wing where patients were housed, he said.

The man is described as white, between 30 and 40 years old, 5-foot-9 inches tall and 165 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans and carried a black revolver, Snow said.

Anyone with information about him is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS or tulsaworld.com/crimestoppers.

Tulsa man is arrested in child sexual abuse case

A Tulsa man was arrested on accusations that he repeatedly sexually abused a 12-year-old girl.

Gregory Darnell Johnson, 50, was booked into the Tulsa Jail on Friday on complaints of child sexual abuse, according to an arrest report.

Johnson is accused of abusing the girl three to four times per week since August in a home in the 3300 block of West 42nd Street, the report indicates. His bail has been set at $100,000.

Johnson is believed to be an acquaintance of the victim's aunt.

During an interview with police on Oct. 2, the girl said Johnson first touched her Aug. 22, according to the report.

The victim also told police that Johnson kissed her, tried to remove her clothing and then raped her that day, according to the report.

The forensic interview with the victim also revealed Johnson touched her inappropriately Oct. 29 by kissing her and attempting to penetrate her by pushing his fingers on her clothes, police said.

Three charged with child neglect after boy shot

Child neglect charges were filed against three Tulsa residents after a 3-year-old was accidentally shot while his parents were away from home last month.

Darren Craig Wolfe, 45; Cynthia Louise Abel, 44, and Christopher Wayne Abel, 24, were charged Friday with child neglect, according to Tulsa County District court filings. They were not in custody as of Saturday.

Wolfe was also charged with possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction, court documents indicate.

Prosecutors allege that on Oct. 12 the 3-year-old boy was with his grandmother's boyfriend at a home in the 4100 block of East First Street when he was shot in the lower leg, police said.

Wolfe, who authorities said was responsible for the care of the boy, had recently purchased a .22-caliber revolver at a flea market and did not think it was functional, police said. Police believed at the time the cause of the shooting was the result of the gun being mishandled.

The boy was transported to St. Francis Hospital following the shooting, where he underwent surgery, police said.

IRS to audit bond issue that funded new jail

NORMAN - The Internal Revenue Service is auditing a $52 million bond issue that funded a new Cleveland County Jail north of Norman.

Cleveland County Commissioner Ron Cleveland said Friday that he is confident there will be no problems uncovered about how the money has been handled.

The jail opened in February and cost $24 million to build as prices were driven down by the 2008 economic collapse. Cleveland County residents are funding the jail bond repayment with a quarter-cent sales tax.
