Editor's note: Seen is a weekly feature showcasing the work of a Tulsa World photojournalist.
It's not a particularly complex photograph. There is nothing actively happening. No smile or tears, no peak action, but nevertheless it is a moment.
It is a moment in the sense that it is a singular, specific fraction of a second that will never again occur.
There have been times that I have seen something on my way home or on my way to work or to the store and I have thought, I will stop on the return trip and shoot it. But inevitably it is not the same. Nothing ever is. The world is in a state of change, and if I don't stop now to shoot what caught my eye, that moment will slip by.
I've learned my lesson. Now, when I see something like the perfect balance between the fading sunset and the lights of the Holy Family Cathedral, I stop. I shoot it. I've never regretted a photo I've taken, only those that I haven't.
