Letter to the Editor: Keep street program

BY Bill Gill, Tulsa

I see that the powers that be are planning to bring up the renewal of the Fix-Our-Streets program. This is good. In fact we should have had the program large enough to do the whole job without having to stop and renew it every few years.

I will support a renewal, if we get to vote on funding street repairs. I will not support gutting the program to pay for other "infrastructure" needs.

Fix-Our-Streets was passed because of the deplorable condition of the streets in Tulsa. We need to continue to focus that effort on streets. If there are other needs we should wait for the Vision 2025 program to wind down and then extend that tax to pay for them. We must not dilute the Fix-Our-Streets program.
