Man stabbed outside his apartment

A 25-year-old man was stabbed while smoking a cigarette outside of his apartment early Monday, police said.
The man was attacked in the 4900 block of South Lewis Avenue around 4 a.m. after an assailant jumped out of the rear passenger seat of a newer model, black Chevrolet Tahoe, said Officer Leland Ashley.
The man suffered a cut to his hand and to his left shoulder before the assailant pulled out a handgun and the victim fled, Ashley said.
Investigators said a motive was not immediately apparent.
The assailant is described as black, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 215 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
