When we say "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas," it may be because we are thinking about the Jenks Vocal Music 2012 Holiday Home Tour.

The 21st edition of the benefit for the Jenks High School vocal music program will be held 1-5 p.m. Dec. 2. Parking will be available at each home site.

Two homes in south Tulsa will be featured this year, along with the new, state-of-the-art Jenks Vocal Music Building that was completed in time for the start of school in August.

"We are so fortunate to have such a quality facility for rehearsals," said Jenks vocal music Director Larry Downey. "This is one of the premier high school music facilities in the region, and it allows our kids to prepare at a very high level - comparable to what you would see on Broadway."

Tickets for the Home Tour fundraiser are $10 in advance or $15 the day of the event. Each ticket purchased allows patrons to view the homes fully decorated for the holidays, as well as the new Jenks music facilities.

"The new music building gives an added dimension to the Holiday Home Tour," said Dawn Elmore, president of the Jenks Vocal Music Booster Club. "In addition to viewing the new state-of-the-art music building, we will have special holiday decorations and holiday baskets for silent auction."

The vocal music group will use the new facility to prepare for the Walt Disney World Candlelight Processional and Massed Choir Program. The Music Department was asked to serve as an anchor choir for the prestigious event in Orlando, Fla., on the grounds of Disney World. One of the most beloved traditions at Epcot, the Candlelight Processional features an inspirational narration of the Christmas story with light displays, an enchanted "Winter Wonderland" setting and the 50-piece Walt Disney World orchestra.

Funds raised from the Holiday Home Tour will help defray costs for the performances in Orlando, as well as the Spring 2013 musical, "Thoroughly Modern Millie."

"Production costs for events like these are very expensive," Downey said. "The kids raise money all year long through various fundraisers, but the Holiday Home Tour is our biggest, most important fundraiser of the year. The community is always great to help support our activities, and we are very appreciative."

Julie Hester is assistant choir director.

Tickets can be purchased at each home the day of the event or in advance from any Jenks High School vocal music student, Jenks Vocal Music Department, Reasor's in Jenks, The Perfect Touch, The Market, Canterbury Lane and Liv a Little in Jenks.
