Broken Arrow's Thomas firm on OU commitment

Devon Thomas admits things have been the same since making a life-altering decision over the weekend.
One thing is certain: The Broken Arrow High School junior remains excited about his verbal commitment to play football at Oklahoma University.
"Everything's pretty much been the same; nothing has changed much," Thomas said on Monday, before announcing his focus now shifts to the 2013 football season at BA.
"Right now, we're going to get right back into the weight room and get ready for another shot at state next year," Thomas said.
The Tigers' season ended last Friday with a Class 6A quarterfinal loss to Norman North. Thomas didn't have the impact of a sophomore season, which saw him finish with 1,840 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns.
Thomas (5-10, 190) missed the season's first four games for undisclosed reasons, which dropped his numbers. It didn't keep a dozen schools, including Oklahoma State, Texas, Michigan and West Virginia from offering scholarships, he said.
Broken Arrow coach Steve Spavital said Thomas will be a solid addition to OU's recruiting class of 2014.
"He missed a few games, obviously, but he came back strong," Spavital said. "We had a lot of youth and development in our offensive line. We had a tough year as far as injuries are concerned. Next year, we'll highlight him much more."
Being without football early in the season may have been a blessing in disguise, Spavital said.
"I think he learned from it ... he understands the importance of what he needs to do," the BA coach said.
Thomas is the second commitment in Oklahoma's 2014 class. He joins Texas City High School wide receiver Armanti Foreman with a non-binding pledge.
