Singer-songwriter Winwood to play at The Joint

English singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Steve Winwood will perform Saturday at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa.

Doors open 7 p.m., showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets start at $45, available at tulsaworld.com/hardrockcasino, the venue box office or by calling 918-384-ROCK. Guests must be at least 21 years old.

His greatest hits compilation, "Revolutions - The Very Best of Steve Winwood," was released in 2010. His latest studio album, "Nine Lives," was released in 2008.

His hits include "Roll with It," "While You See a Chance," "Valerie," "Back in the High Life Again" and "Higher Love," which earned the singer two Grammys.

Winwood's career began at age 15 when he joined the Spencer Davis Group, where he co-wrote the hits "Gimme Some Lovin' " and "I'm a Man."

As a solo artist and member in bands The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith (with Eric Clapton) and Go, his styles have crossed boundaries of rock 'n' roll, R&B, soul, pop and jazz for nearly 50 years.

Winwood's done session work with some of history's most influential musicians, including Jimi Hendrix, Lou Reed, George Harrison, David Gilmour, Billy Joel and others, according to his official website.

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. In 2008, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Winwood No. 33 in its roundup of 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.

He also released eight albums with his band Traffic, which won 2008 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Winwood also performs Friday at WinStar Casino in Thackerville.
