Television celebrates the holidays on this Thanksgiving weekend with something for everyone.
It's Charlie Brown
In addition to football and basketball on Thursday, catch the classic "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" at 7 p.m. on ABC, followed by the Spike Lee film "Bad 25" at 9 p.m. The latter special celebrates the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson's 1987 "Bad" album and tour and includes archival and never-seen footage plus interviews with those who helped Jackson create his vision for "Bad."
An eye for an eye
In case you missed it, the History Channel is repeating its hugely popular miniseries "The Hatfields & McCoys" from 5-11 p.m Thursday.
'Punkin Chunkin'
It's time for that Science Channel holiday tradition known as "Punkin Chunkin." Yes, at 7 p.m. Thursday on cable 284, you can watch as the "Mythbusters" trio competes for the title of "Lord of the Gourd" as they slingshot pumpkins.
Happy holiday specials
Friday is filled with college football games. But, if you're not into pigskin, several channels have classic and new Christmas-themed animated specials.
CBS has "Frosty the Snowman" at 7 p.m., "Frosty Returns" at 7:30 p.m., "Hoops & Yoyo Ruin Christmas" at 8 p.m. and "It's a SpongeBob Christmas!" at 9 p.m. on channel 6. CW, channel 19, cable 12, will air "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" at 7 p.m. followed, at 8 p.m., by "The Happy Elf."
Also on Friday, Fox gets into the holiday spirit with the one-hour animated special "Happiness is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown" at 7 p.m. on channel 23, cable 5. In it, Linus learns his grandmother is coming to visit and he must decide whether to dispose of his most cherished possession - gasp - his blanket.
Hallmark Channel has the animated specials "Jingle & Bell's Christmas Star" at 7 p.m. Friday, followed by "Jingle All the Way" at 7:30 p.m. and Carrie Fisher's original Hallmark film "It's Christmas, Carol" at 8 p.m. All on cable 165.
Action!
NBC offers up "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" at 7 p.m. with Harrison Ford as famed archaeologist/adventurer Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones who is competing with a deadly Soviet agent for a powerful artifact.
Have you been ...?
Hallmark channel has the new film "Naughty or Nice," premiering at 7 p.m. on cable 165.
Hilarie Burton plays Krissy Kringle, a young woman who can't think of anything positive about the holiday season. First, she gets fired, then her boyfriend starts bugging her about getting married and she has to take a part-time job as Santa's helper at the mall. But a book comes to life and teaches her a valuable lesson about love, humility and the power of Christmas. TV veterans Meredith Baxter and Michael Gross of "Family Ties" co-star.
Lineup change
After this week's TV World had gone to press, Lifetime decided to shuffle all of its holiday movies on Saturday. The new schedule is: 11 a.m., "Christmas Child"; 1 p.m., (my favorite!) "If You Believe" with Ally Walker and Tom Amandes; 3 p.m., "Home by Christmas"; 5 p.m., "The Road to Christmas" and 9 p.m., "The Christmas Hope." All airing on cable 36.
And the winner is...
John Legend, Fantasia and Charlie Wilson as performers will join host Cedric the Entertainer for the "Soul Train Awards 2012" being broadcast at 8 p.m. Sunday on BET, cable 40. It's the awards' 25th anniversary and the stars came out for the event taped Nov. 8. The performers and presents include Stevie Wonder, Jamie Foxx, Ne-Yo, Gladys Knight, Tyrese, Keri Hilson, Keyshia Cole, "Dr. J" Julius Erving, Magic Johnson, Jody Watley, Flavor Flav, Estelle, Ben Vereen, George Wallace and more.
Back to 'Downton'
Join Dame Maggie Smith, Elizabeth McGovern, Hugh Bonneville, Dan Stevens, Michelle Dockery, Siobhan Finneran and many more of the series' most popular actors for "Downton Abbey Revisited," a new special airing at 8:30 p.m. Sunday on PBS, channel 11. The special includes a collection of the best moments from the first two seasons of the hit British period drama plus interviews with the actors and creative team and rare behind-the-scenes footage. Angela Lansbury will be your host.
