A 5-year-old suffered severe injuries after being ejected from an SUV during a hit-and-run collision Wednesday.

The child was one of three people traveling in a Chevrolet Trailblazer that was struck by a Dodge Charger in east Tulsa about 9:20 p.m., police said.

The Trailblazer was westbound on 14th Street at the 131st East Avenue intersection when the Charger reportedly ran a stop sign and crashed into the SUV, said Capt. Walter Busby.

The 5-year-old was thrown from the vehicle and suffered severe injuries, Busby said. He was unsure whether the child was buckled into a car seat at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Dodge Charger fled the scene on foot, police said.

The SUV's driver and a 1-year-old passenger in the Trailblazer were transported to a hospital with minor injuries, Busby said. A passenger in the Charger was also treated for minor injuries after he was extricated from inside the car.

Police were investigating possible leads on the identity of the driver Thursday morning.
