Davis holds on, outlasting Adair

ADAIR - In a game of big plays, it was a matter of inches that kept Davis alive.
No. 2 Davis stopped a two-point conversion with 25 seconds left to hold on to a 34-33 victory over No. 5 Adair on Friday night in the Class 2A quarterfinals.
Adair (12-1) had just scored on a 2-yard run by quarterback Brady Bradbury to close the lead to one point and decided to go for the win with a two-point conversion attempt. Bradbury's pass attempt failed, but Davis was called for pass interference, moving the ball half the distance to the goal.
From about one and a half yards, Bradbury tried to score behind the left side of the line, but was stopped inches short. The ensuing onside kick failed, and Davis ran out the clock.
It was an end to a brilliant game by Bradbury, who rushed for 208 yards on 37 carries, and completed 16 of 26 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns.
"Bradbury is cold-blooded. He is an excellent high school football player," said Davis coach Jody Weber.
Deaundre' Carr was just as spectacular for Davis, rushing for 191 yards and two TDs on 17 carries.
"I didn't feel like either offense was going to stop the other," said Weber.
It was Carr who broke free for a 54-yard touchdown run with 7:50 left in the game with the Wolves trailing 27-20. Davis went ahead for good on a two-point conversion run by Carr, making the score 28-27.
"We got together and said we had plenty of time left," said Carr of his final touchdown and two-point conversion. "If there is time on the clock, we feel we can win."
Davis (13-0) stretched the lead to 34-27 with 3:15 left on a 40-yard touchdown run by Michael Nowden, but the conversion pass failed, keeping Adair's hopes alive.
