Nicole Griffin scored a career-high 19 points as No. 13 Oklahoma defeated Arkansas 73-70 Friday in the opening game of the Rainbow Wahine Showdown in Honolulu.

Griffin was 8-for-11 from the field, including 5-for-5 in the second half, as the Sooners turned to their inside game because of an unusually poor performance from the perimeter.

The Sooners were 3-of-18 from 3-point range and 18-of-30 from the free-throw line.

Aaryn Ellenberg, OU's top scorer coming into the game, scored just one point after spending most of the first half on the bench with two fouls. Morgan Hook and Whitney Hand each had 14 points.

Freshman Maddie Manning had 10 points and eight rebounds in her first career start.

Peak buried a 3-pointer to tie the game 54-54 with 6:20 to play. Hook responded with a 3 for Oklahoma, and Arkansas missed five of its final seven field goal attempts.

The Razorbacks held an early lead, but lost their offense when Peak was benched in foul trouble.

Oklahoma then pulled away with a six-minute, 15-0 run.

Oklahoma next faces Oregon in the Showdown at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu Saturday at 6 p.m. Oklahoma time.
