ORU falls to Charlotte in Great Alaska Shootout

ANCHORAGE, Ala. -- The Charlotte bench outscored Oral Roberts 42-0 early Saturday morning, helping lead a 72-58 win over the Golden Eagles in the semifinals of the Great Alaska Shootout.
Charlotte advances to the tournament final against Northeastern at 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Northeastern was a 74-71 winner over Belmont in the first semifinal.
Oral Roberts and Belmont play in the third-place game at 9 p.m.
The Golden Eagles, 3-2 on the season, were led by 18 points from Shawn Glover. Warren Niles added 15 points. ORU shot 33.9 percent from the field, including 4-of-14 from beyond the 3-point line.
DeMario Mayfield came off the bench to hit 14-of-16 free throws and lead all Charlotte scores with 17 points. Chris Braswell didn't start either, but was the only other 49er in double figures with 11 points.
Oral Roberts tralied by nine at the half, but scored the first five points of the second half -- a Damen Bell-Holter layup and a 3-pointer by Niles -- to cut the margin to four. Charlotte's Denzel Ingram hit a trey to push the margin back to seven.
The Golden Eagles got as close as five one more time before Charlotte put the game away with a 15-4 run over a five-plus minute span of the second half. The lead balloned to as many as 18.
