Guy W. Duren, Jr., 90, died Thursday, November 22, 2012, in Tulsa. Guy was born to Guy W. and Florence Duren on November 5, 1922, in Houston Texas. He married Frances Claudine Walker on April 2, 1947. The couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. Guy graduated from Texas A & M with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and was a proud Aggie supporter. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II as a forward observer in the 99th Infantry Division, earning two bronze stars in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves. Guy worked for Cities Service Oil Company his entire career, retiring in 1982 as the Natural Gas Liquids Division manager. He and his wife, Claudine, spent their retirement years traveling across the U.S. and worldwide to locations in Europe, China, Japan, Australia and Russia. They volunteered for several organizations including the Republican Party, Meals on Wheels and The American Red Cross. They were members of the Kirk of the Hills. Guy is survived by beloved wife Claudine; children Debbie Barrick, Russ and Cheryl Duren and Dee Ann Duren; grandchildren Brett and Whitney Barrick, Lora Barrick, Russell and Anina Duren, Christopher Duren, Bradley and Jessica Duren; 3 great grandchildren; and a sister, Dolores Savoy. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Services for Guy W. Duren Jr. will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Kirk of the Hills. He will be buried with full military honors at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston, Texas. Visitation was Friday 6 - 8pm at Moore’s Southlawn Chapel.
