Improving Zink Dam is the key action the city of Tulsa can take to encourage development of the Arkansas River corridor, according to a task force formed to study the issue.

“The Task Force believes that maintaining ‘water in the river’ is the single most important element for sustained economic development along the corridor,” according to the River Development Task Force’s final recommendations. “Toward that end, we believe that an improved Zink Lake dam may be the most effective catalyst to drive future development.”

The task force was established by the Mayor’s Office and City Council in April to identify steps that could be taken to optimize development along the river.

The task force is scheduled to present its recommendations to the City Council on Dec. 6.
