Letter to the Editor: Hogwash!

Randy Jefferson ("Pause first," Nov. 10) complains about sports columnist Dave Sittler, whines about the University of Tulsa Hurricane getting away with several obvious holding calls and spearing the Arkansas quarterback. If the holdings were obvious, they would have been called. And quarterbacks are highly protected. If he was speared that would have been called.
Those were obviously in Jefferson's mind. He failed to mention the blatant offensive pass interference call that even Arkansas press box coaches said was bad. He thought they called a reasonable game so the home team must have been protected. Is he one of the loudmouth fans who do a lot of yelling with a little knowledge?
If he thinks Arkansas stays away from Tulsa for the money he's full of pig slop. Arkansas doesn't want to face TU anywhere but in its own backyard. Arkansas is no bigger than the University of Oklahoma Sooners or the Oklahoma State University Cowboys, which come to Tulsa on a two-for-one basis. Ticket prices are jacked up and both teams have lots of fans there and they would get a sizable paycheck. Arkansas prefers to pay the big bucks to keep everything slanted its way. Its absurd Fayetteville/Little Rock scheme and lame economic excuse do not prohibit the Razorbacks from coming to Tulsa.
It is only their "my way" or we won't play attitude.
At least Tulsa isn't afraid to play in its backyard. Maybe instead of "sooey pig" to call the hogs they should yell, "cluck, cluck," to call the chickens.
Good job, Dave Sittler.
