George Mark Sullivan III, 59, passed away November 14, 2012 at home. “Mark,” as he was known to friends and family, was born January 10, 1953 in Tulsa. A 1971 graduate of Memorial High School in Tulsa, he earned a BFA degree in Graphic Design from the University of Oklahoma in 1976. Mark became a well-known Graphic Designer / Creative Director for the region’s best known advertising agencies including Ackerman McQueen, Brothers & Company, Hood Hope & Associates, Fred N. Davis, KM2A, Hinkle Creative Services, Butler & Butler, and Sterling Integrated Communications. During his 36-year career, Mark provided creative services for many of the state’s leading brands including Zebco, PSO, Hilti, Mazzio’s, Bank of Oklahoma, Thrifty Car Rental, Saint Francis Hospital, MidAmerica Industrial Park, and the Oklahoma Aquarium. His creative work was honored with a host of awards in numerous Addy and Graphex competitions. Mark was active in the Art Directors Club of Tulsa serving twice as board president. He was also an Assistant Graphic Art professor at the University of Tulsa. He enjoyed watching his daughter get married and helping his son become an Eagle Scout. He always looked forward to holding his grandson, bragging about his standard poodle, Rex, and dogsitting Ella, his daughter’s French bulldog. He is survived by his wife, Martha; his daughter and her family, Carly Sullivan Rivers, Zach and son, Logan; his son, Spencer; and his two sisters, Karen Webster and her husband, Rocky, and Leslie Rosencutter and her husband, Mike. He is preceded in death by his father, George Mark Sullivan II; his mother, Barbara Fleming Amundsen; and his stepfather, Spencer O. Amundsen. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Art Directors Club of Tulsa for the Mark Sullivan Scholarship Fund at www. artdirectorsoftulsa.org. Graveside services are pending at Memorial Park via Moore’s Southlawn. A celebration of his life is scheduled for the Back Dining Room at Kilkenny’s Irish Pub, 1413 East 15th Street, on Thursday, November 29 from 5:00-7:00PM.
