Recent Tulsa World coverage of the lawsuit Oklahoma Industrial Energy Consumers vs. AEP-PSO showed OIEC attempting to delay EPA cleaning up air pollution caused by coal-fired utilities. In addition to "Burn Baby Burn" all the coal Oklahoma's electric utilities want, evidence shows coal-smoke particles do cause respiratory ills. Now thanks to Gov. Fallin, 693,000 uninsured can kiss good-bye any public medical treatments; some have coal-pollution related problems. Political ideology might get you re-elected but it will not save the sick.
Meanwhile, regional haze is increasing yearly deep in the heart of Oklahomans' lungs; that tangy taste might be airborne mercury. Marlboro Man is alive and well, riding a new horse named "Yellow Haze." What would Will Rogers do?
