BARTLESVILLE – A 25-year-old Bartlesville woman who was caught unclothed in a tanning room with a teenage boy was bound over for trial Tuesday on a charge of lewd acts with a minor child.

Associate District Judge John Gerkin concluded the preliminary hearing for Betsy Ann Brashear by setting a Dec. 19 formal arraignment date. She remains free on $20,000 bond.

Bartlesville police were called in June to investigate allegations that Brashear had been naked from the waist down in a room alone with a 15-year-old boy at Colaw Fitness Center. The teen was at the fitness center for a late evening work-out.

The boy told police he had spotted Brashear on some weights for awhile, then she talked him into going to the tanning room. Once inside the room, Brashear stripped her clothes and started kissing the boy, the affidavit stated. The boy’s mother found the two of them in the tanning room with the door closed and Brashear dressed in just a sports bra, court records stated.

Brashear admitted kissing the teen saying there was “nothing wrong or illegal about giving someone a kiss,” the affidavit stated.
