Youth Leadership Oklahoma applications due next week

The deadline to apply for Youth Leadership Oklahoma, a statewide youth leadership program, is Dec. 4.
The weeklong summer program takes high school students across the state and introduces them to the leaders, issues, resources and cultural treasures of Oklahoma, according to a press release from the organization.
More than 550 students from more than 215 schools have participated in the program since it began nearly 10 years ago.
Applicants must be high school juniors or home-schooled equivalent with at least a 3.25 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
Youth Leadership Oklahoma accepts 50 class members each year. Criteria for selection include demonstrated leadership ability in activities such as student council, athletics and service clubs, as well as an exhibited commitment to community service and extracurricular activities. Participants are also considered on the basis of geographic, racial and cultural diversity.
