Man arrested in stabbing death of mother in Mayes County

LOCUST GROVE -- A 30-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on an allegation that he fatally stabbed his mother to death during an argument, according to the Mayes County Sheriff’s Office.
Susan Wilkerson, 57, was found dead with multiple stab wounds, authorities said.
William John Wilkerson is being held in the Mayes County Jail on a first-degree murder complaint, jail records show.
Authorities received a call about 11:30 a.m from Wilkerson that a female had been stabbed at a residence six miles east of Locust Grove, said Mayes County Sheriff Frank Cantey.
After speaking with deputies at the scene, it was determined that Wilkerson had stabbed the woman, and he was immediately taken into custody, Cantey said.
During interviews with authorities, Wilkerson said he got into an argument with his mother and tried to choke her. He then grabbed a paring knife and stabbed the woman before breaking the tip, authorities said.
Wilkerson then retrieved another knife and continued to stab the woman, authorities said.
Bond has not been set.
